On contentment
Sometimes you have to go back to something to realize it doesn’t fit anymore.
That’s how I feel returning to my regularly scheduled programming. And while it’s frustrating to know where you are isn’t where you want to be, at least you’re sure of something; most people can’t even specify their passions. So I remember that I’m living the life I prayed for—what I believe God planted in my heart.
And if I can’t be content in the off-season—when I’m not on a melting ice road to pioneer missions in a remote Arctic village or street-preaching in a 14,000-foot-high, lawless town—then how can I be trusted to steward my times of fulfillment?
Philippians 4:11-13
11 I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. 12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
